Louise Marino


Louise A. Marino (nee Chanelli), age 100, of Hawthorne, NJ, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 3, 2017.

Born in Greenwich Village in 1916, Louise was the first child of Nicholas (1980) and Rose Chanelli (1984). She was a former long-time resident of Park Row in lower Manhattan having lived there for 50 years. She was a true New Yorker through and through.

Louise was a secretary for the Woolworth Company in the landmark Woolworth Building for 47 years. After retiring in 1984, she volunteered at her church parish - St. Andrew’s Church in Manhattan, as parish secretary for almost 20 years.

Louise was predeceased by her beloved husband James in 1987, her dear brother Joseph in 2006, and her dear sister Jeanette in 2008. She is survived by many devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, and was a beloved godmother to many.

Louise treated everyone like they were her own children. She was a devoted friend and confidant who had a kind and generous heart and unwavering love for her family, church and friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Special thanks to the staff at Van Dyk Park Place in Hawthorne for their care and compassion.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 6, 2017, beginning 8:30 AM at Church of the Annunciation, 45 Urban Club Road, Wayne. Please meet directly at the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, NY.
