Barbara McCaig Bonnett,83, of Pines Lake section of Wayne passed away peacefully on Tuesday Sept 1, 2026.
Barbara was born in Englewood NJ to Donald and Dorothy McCaig on October 16, 1942. She was the second eldest daughter of five. Barbara graduated from Pascack Valley High school.
Barbara enjoyed a varied working life. For many years, she spent her summers at camp teaching swimming, a job she truly enjoyed and during the winter months, she worked in the office at Wayne Country Day school. In the 80’s Barbara began her office administration career at Ricoh Camera, then eventually advanced to the registrar office at Ramapo College before her retirement in the early 2000’s.
Barbara especially enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished the time she shared with her grandchildren. She loved spending her summers at the beaches of Pines Lake and looked forward to watching football in the fall. In the winter, she enjoyed escaping to Fort Myers Florida. Barbara also loved water aerobics, reading good novels, and crafting. But what brought her the greatest joy was watching her grandchildren take part in the sports and hobbies they loved and cheering them on every step of the way.
Barbara met the love of her life, Robert, while she was in high school. They married in October 1961 at Saint John the Baptist church in Hillsdale NJ and soon began their life together. They moved to South Carolina, while Robert attended Clemson College, now Clemson University, and it was there that they started their family and built the foundation for the life they would share for many years to come.
Barbara was a loving and devoted wife to her predeceased husband Robert of 59 years; Beloved mother to Dr. Robert Bonnett and his wife June of Woodcliff Lake, Susan Rescinio and her husband Michael of Oceanport, and Brian Bonnett and his wife Meredith of Pompton Lakes: She was the cherished “G-Ma” of Danielle Bonnett and her fiancé Xander Porter, Nicholas Bonnett and his wife Taylor, Alyssa McClutchy and her husband Matthew, Christopher Rescinio, and Caitlyn and Matthew Bonnett. Barbara was also blessed with a great grandchild Cameron McClutchy.
Memorial Donations would be greatly appreciated to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memorial Processing, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
