Brenda Lynn Vander Valk, age 66, of Pompton Plains, NJ, was called home to heaven on Thursday, September 17, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born in Oak Ridge, NJ, on April 20, 1960, she was a member of the Heritage Reformed Congregation in Kinnelon, NJ where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Brenda is survived by her beloved husband Steven, blessed by God in marriage for 40 years; her beloved children, Joseph and wife Sherilyn of Titusville, FL, Tyler and his wife Lindsay of Montville, Cory and his wife Rachel of Rockaway; her father Corneilus VanderStad; and her siblings John VanderStad and his wife Mary, Sue Rose and her husband Alan, Ruth Tanis and her husband William, Ada Den Hollander and her husband Henry, Lisa Sniegocki and her husband Mike. Brenda was also the loving grandmother of 8 grandchildren.
Brenda served Jesus boldly, always opening her home to others, hosting friends, family, church guests, or even someone she met in the grocery store parking lot. She had a heart for service and was a mighty prayer warrior. Her long prayer list was a testament to her faith and love for those in her life.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Brenda’s memory to the Lighthouse Pregnancy Resource Center.
